TEAM LEVEL – IMPROVE PHASE

4: Towards Execution Power

On the fourth level of my framework for success, it’s all about improving the team. A permanent challenge is how to organize, develop and motivate your team of professionals towards a continuously higher level of performance and commitment. In this article, I give my personal view on how to challenge, develop and motivate your team. But I also challenge my LinkedIn network to react on this last and very important level. In my LinkedIn network, there are a lot of serious meaningful coaches, trainers, and consultants with a significant track record and successful businesses.

During my working history with several kinds of teams I tried to create four things; trust, structure, energy, and a permanent set of challenges.

4: Towards Execution Power

Trust

I always select the members of my teams carefully. I select them based on their knowledge, character, experience and fit with others in the team. Being ‘one guy of the team’ means immediately being an important part of the team from the start. Keeping this clear to the whole team, they all had confidence and were relaxed in their job. What do you consider important elements when selecting a new member for a team?

Structure

I loved building a structure with responsibilities, budgets, targets, tasks, and activities. Within this structure, it was obvious how to operate. In my opinion, this brings clarity and focus on execution. But maybe you have additional thoughts about creating structure in building a new business…

Energy

It isn’t easy to create an energetic and dynamic environment. But leading by example is very important. When you bring energy, you get energy. It starts at the top, and flows from up there. How do you motivate and create energy within business teams?

Challenges

Every team and organization needs direction. In my working history, I gave direction not only with plans and targets but mainly by formulating challenges. Becoming bigger and more successful than other comparable teams or creating a BHAG on customer satisfaction or being the best in sales conversion or… You can formulate a lot of challenges for them. Look for one that will excite the team.
